Dental Surgery
Douglas Dentistry offers various types of Dental & Oral Surgery:
- Root Canals: When dental decay has reached the pulp or nerve of the tooth, which causes pain and can lead to an abscessed tooth, a root canal is the best treatment for restoring the tooth. The nerve is removed from the canals of the tooth, disinfected, and replaced with a filling material.
- Tooth Extractions: When a tooth is decayed or broken to the extent that it can not be restored, it is necessary to extract or remove that tooth.
- Wisdom Teeth Extractions: Wisdom teeth are the 3rd set of molars that come in. In some patients there is enough space for the teeth to come in correctly. In other patients the wisdom teeth become impacted, unable to come through the gums at the correct angle. This can cause pain and problems. The best time to remove wisdom teeth is when the roots are beginning to form. This occurs between the ages of 16-19.
- Dental Implants: Dental implants are a great treatment option for replacing teeth. The dental implant is a screw placed in the jaw bone, which acts as the root of a tooth. An abutment or base is attached to the implant. This abutment is used to attach a dental crown or removable restorations (denture and partial denture).
